TYPO3 extension development
TYPO3 extensions that do exactly what you need
When standard extensions don't fit, I develop your feature to measure: cleanly built to TYPO3 standards, documented and ready for future updates.
Typical projects
- Custom content elements: built with Content Blocks, so editors can maintain content easily and consistently.
- Plugins with Extbase: product catalogs, job boards, events, dealer locators.
- Interfaces: connections to ERP, CRM, shop, newsletter or your own APIs.
- Backend modules: reports and tools right inside the TYPO3 backend.
- Migrating old extensions: moving features from extensions that are no longer maintained into a modern extension.
Quality that survives the next update
I develop according to the TYPO3 project's coding guidelines, with Composer, a clean namespace and no changes to the core. That way, your extension stays maintainable through upcoming TYPO3 updates and can be continued by any TYPO3 developer.
An example from practice
This website itself runs on TYPO3 14 with custom Content Blocks: every section, from the page header and the services overview to the hosting box, is its own content element that can be edited in the backend. I can build something like this for you too.
Interfaces: how data flows
Many extensions connect TYPO3 with other systems. Before development starts, we clarify together which data flows in which direction, how often it is synchronized and who is allowed to access it:
- Import: regularly bringing products, jobs or events from ERP, inventory management or portals into TYPO3.
- Export: passing inquiries or orders from TYPO3 forms on to CRM, ticket system or newsletter.
- Access and permissions: storing credentials securely, assigning backend permissions properly, transferring only the data that is needed.
- Error cases: What happens if the other system can't be reached? Logs and notifications instead of silent failures.
How I ensure quality
- Test environment: development and approval happen separately from your live website.
- TYPO3 standards: Composer, a dedicated namespace, no changes to the core, current APIs instead of deprecated functions.
- Documentation: structure, configuration and interfaces are documented, so other developers can work with them too.
- Ready for updates: your extension is built so it can keep up with future TYPO3 upgrades.
Working together across Germany
I carry out extension projects for companies all over Germany. Coordination and approval happen by phone, video call and through a shared test environment. After go-live, I can take care of maintenance and further development as part of TYPO3 maintenance and support, if you like.
Process
From idea to finished extension
Requirements
What should the extension do, who maintains it, which systems are involved?
Concept and quote
Data model, interface and integrations, with a binding estimate of the effort.
Development
Implementation in a test environment with regular progress updates.
Handover and maintenance
Documentation, training and further development if you like.
Frequently asked questions about extension development
How much does a custom TYPO3 extension cost?
That depends on the range of features and the interfaces involved. After a concept meeting, you get a binding quote. Prices are available on request.
Do you also work with our own IT team or agency?
Yes. I coordinate with your IT team, your hosting provider or other service providers, for example on interfaces and access.
Can you bring an old extension up to TYPO3 14?
Yes. I check whether adapting it is worthwhile or whether a new development makes more sense. This often happens as part of a TYPO3 upgrade.
Isn't there already an extension for that?
Sometimes there is, and then I recommend it to you. A custom development is worthwhile when standard solutions don't fit or are poorly maintained.
Can you continue developing an extension built by another agency?
Yes. I analyze the code, assess its quality and update readiness, and then develop it further or move it into a modern structure.
Which TYPO3 versions do you develop for?
I develop new extensions for the current LTS versions. For older installations, I recommend an update first.
